North Platte, seat of Lincoln County, is located in west central Nebraska at the confluence of the North Platte and South Platte rivers. It was settled in 1866 and incorporated in 1873. It is an agricultural center with one of the largest railroad classification yards in the U.S. Manufactures include processed meat and doors. North Platte is the site of a community college; the Lincoln County Historical Society Museum, exhibiting pioneer items; Community Playhouse; and the annual Nebraskaland Days celebration, featuring a rodeo.
